Locked into the Chatroom_ An Offline Conversation

In an age where hyperconnectivity defines our relationships and identities, Locked into the Chatroom: An Offline Conversation invites people to step into a slower internet memory through an immersive installation.

Attempting to mirror the archive of early internet and chatroom experience, and reflects on notions of anonymity, intimacy, and the ways technology shapes how we come to know each other—and ourselves.

by collecting people’s memories and stories—including our own—it captures and reimagines the emotional and playful dimensions of the early internet as a way to revisit both personal and collective memory.

People will enter the space as if stepping into a reimagined chatroom; the walls, floor, and table will be covered in questions, memories, stories, reflections, and fragments of old and imagined conversations held in digital spaces.

You will be handed a nickname tag before entry—an invitation to momentarily embody a past or imagined online persona.

It will be a pure reflective, sensory encounter: where people are invited to walk around the room and reflect on their own experiences with the internet and digital intimacies between the past and the present.

في عصر تُعرِّف فيه فرط الترابط علاقاتنا وهوياتنا، تأتي "عالِقون في غرفة الدردشة: حديث غير متصل بالإنترنت" لتدعونا إلى الغوص في ذاكرة إنترنت أبطأ، من خلال تركيب فني غامر وتجريبي.

يحاول هذا العمل محاكاة أرشيف الإنترنت المبكر وتجربة غرف الدردشة، ويعكس مفاهيم مثل: الهوية المجهولة، والحميمية، وكيف تشكّل التكنولوجيا طريقتنا في التعرّف على بعضنا البعض وعلى أنفسنا أيضًا.

من خلال جمع ذكريات وقصص الناس "بما في ذلك قصصنا الشخصية " يعيد هذا العمل تجسيد الأبعاد العاطفية والمرحة للإنترنت في بداياته، كوسيلة لاستحضار الذاكرة الفردية والجمعية معًا.

سيدخل الزوّار المكان وكأنهم يخطون داخل غرفة دردشة مُتخيّلة؛ حيث تغطّي الأسئلة، الذكريات، القصص، التأملات، وفتات من أحاديث قديمة أو متخيلة جدران الغرفة، أرضيتها، وطاولاتها.

سيتم تسليمك بطاقة باسم مستعار قبل دخولك، دعوة لتقمص شخصية إلكترونية ماضية أو متخيّلة، ولو لوهلة.

إنها تجربة تأملية حسّية خالصة: حيث يُدعى الزوّار للتجوّل في الغرفة والتأمل في تجاربهم الشخصية مع الإنترنت والحميميات الرقمية، بين الماضي والحاضر.
